Imagine going to bed hungry, waking up without breakfast and going to school on an empty stomach. Sadly, some children in our community don’t need to imagine. Pirate pals is a way to provide food for children in the Pearl Lower Elementary School for the weekend. The counselor and teachers work together to identify the children in need of assistance. Committee members collect donations from members, individuals and businesses in Rankin County, shop for items when needed, deliver the items to the school for the counselor to pack and send home with the children.
